PASSENGER VEHICLES MOTORCYCLES

To obtain a licence to operate a passenger vehicle in SK, there are three GDL stages: Class 7 (Learner), Class 5 (Novice 1), and Class 5 (Novice 2)
Effective date of program implementation: Sept. 1, 2005


AGE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum entry age: 16 years, 6 months
Minimum exit age
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Parental consent
Successfully passed test  ⁄ course
Time completion: Held Class 5 Novice 1 licence for 6 months excluding
interruptions (i.e. suspensions)
EXIT REQUIREMENTS
Successfully passed test ⁄ course
Time completion: Hold Novice 2 licence for 12 months without licence suspensions, traffic convictions and at fault collisions
STAGE DURATION
Minimum duration: 12 months

SUPERVISORY DRIVER
N⁄A
SUPERVISED DRIVING
Minimum amount of supervised driving
DRIVING RESTRICTIONS AND CONDITIONS
BAC level while driving: 0.0 BAC
Must display "N" sign⁄plate when driving
Other restrictions
Passenger restrictions: Limited to number of working seatbelts
Road restrictions
SUSPENSION & PROHIBITION
Incident based: i.e. number of traffic violations/convictions and at-fault collisions
In the event of an incident, the Novice 2 driver will be required to restart the 12 month incident-free period again, and will be placed in the Graduated Driver Licensing Improvement Program
The 12 months in Novice 2 must be at fault collision, traffic conviction and licence suspension free

ADDITIONAL NOVICE 2 FEATURES
Cannot be a supervising driver
Cannot obtain a commercial driver's licence or school bus endorsement
